LMA honors two founding physicians
October 2005
Lowcountry Medical Associates (LMA) recently honored two of their retiring physicians and founding
members at a reception held October 17, 2005 at the South Carolina Aquarium. Dr. Richard Ulmer of West
Ashley Internal Medicine and Dr. James Hayes of Associates in Internal Medicine, were recognized for 35
years of practice by 150 guests that included colleagues, family members, and friends.
As an LMA tradition, each retiree was given a Charleston Battery bench with a plaque as a token of the
organization's gratitude for their many years of service and dedication. The event also paid special
tribute to the physicians' wives, Mrs. Martha Ulmer and Mrs. Barbara Hayes, whose support helped both
doctors better serve LMA and their patients.
